A well engraved and nicely colored double page map from Desilver's "A New Universal Atlas. Map shows the cities, roads, rivers, mountains and other geographical features of the Crimean Peninsula. North-east region has the notation: “Regions Subject to Plague”. The two inset maps are a map showing the relative position of the Crimea with the seat of war, and Sebastopol Harbour. The Crimean War occurred between 1853 and 1856. The war was between the Russian Empire and an alliance of the French, British and Ottoman Empires and kingdom of Sardinia. Surrounded by a nice decorative border.
